1271  The Inquiry

The roar of the beast alerted them, Izzy forced herself to stand as quickly as he could and then aimed his gun at the source of the sounds, however, a sudden sharp pain squeezed his ribs causing him to cough uncontrollably which only made him feel worse, his loud voice attracted the beast's attention to his direction immediately sweat trickled from his forehead. Being preyed on by the beast, Izzy quickly turned his eyes to the health potion he desperately needed but was utterly shocked when he saw the health potion was already in Bella's hands.

"Bella, give it to me, I need it" Izzy raised his hand, pleading.

However, Bella shook her head, "But, I also need...you will understand, right?!"

Izzy's eyes widened in shock, he felt so betrayed that he didn't want to believe what he heard, "Bella, please, my injury is far worse than you, don't worry I will protect you, I will not let you get hurt, you believe me right...Bella?" he wanted to reassure her though deep down he knew it would be useless.

For someone who works, being selfish and unfaithful is a normal trait, besides that their relationship is only based on profit, at least for Bella because she is the one who takes advantage of Izzy. out of foolishness, he wants to believe that Bella will not desert him cause she needs him. Yes, maybe that was the situation before, since he was obedient, loyal, and easy to control so of course Belle kept him for a long time, however, when their life was at stake it was a no-brainer that Bella would choose herself over him.

"Izzy, if you love me you will give in to me, right?~" Bella coerced him with an impatient smile.

"Bella, why don't you believe me, I will protect you!" Even though Izzy knows that Bella is a selfish-entitled woman, still he can't help to feel disappointed, he thought she would make an exception for him after everything he had done for her.

Bella took a deep breath, though she felt a bit guilty for what she was about to do but nothing was more important than her own life.

"I'm not fighting..." she looked at him with slight remorse "I'm sorry Izzy" Bella said.

"Bella?"

Bella took a few steps back then suddenly her body was engulfed with a poisonous haze. Izzy immediately took a step back while covering his mouth and nose meantime Bella took this chance to escape on her own.

 Surrounded by poisonous smoke, the Minotaur let out a furious roar, the beast then raised its bone ax and charged toward him. Izzy raised his gun and then shot the beast several times but the pain in his ribs made his shoot unstable he missed a few shots. Meanwhile, the Minotaur with sturdy footsteps charged toward him like a bulldozer. His eyes were flat with resignation thus for a last time he screamed at the top of his lungs.

"BELLAAA!" Izzy's scream echoed off the cold labyrinth walls accompanied by the loud thud and thunderous roar.

Bella ran without slowing down despite hearing Izzy's harrowing screams, even though she felt sorry for Izzy, however, if she was given another chance she would still do the same thing because essentially nothing is more precious than her own life!

In the middle of her escape, out of nowhere, a sharp wind came from the front and then grazed her shoulder.

Bella taken aback then stopped her pace in haste. She examined the area around her but Because the labyrinth was dark she could not see anything. it was then she heard a cackle not far in front of her, just about three meters. Bella's body stiffened, she was about to raise her weapon but then remembered Zhao Li Xin had burned her only weapon.

Without carrying any weapons all his anxiety came back. A moment later, something suddenly rushed towards him so that he reflexively raised his fingers whose nails had been infused with the poison gift and then she scratched at whatever came her way. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Bella then heard a high-pitched scream she then took a step back. The beast turns out to be a small green Goblin. The Beas covers its face while jumping on its feet as if it were dancing.

Goblins is a humanoid monster that used to live inside the cave so it's to be expected they would inside the Labyrinth, the beast was proficient with hunting however with only ten-year-old intelligent the beast was known to be stupid though it still category to be at 'Watchout' level. Seeing it only one goblin Bella sighed in relief.

But his joy didn't last long when he heard another cackling sound coming from behind him. Bella was shocked then immediately gathered the poison mist around herself as protection then the calling sounds multiplied and not only came from behind her but also from her left and right it felt like it was surrounding her.

Fear slowly crept into her heart, Bella then remembered that Goblins never hunted alone, they always came in packs.

One by one the torches lit up which soon illuminated the labyrinth path, it was then Bella realized she was surrounded by dozens of green monsters grinning from ear to ear.

'Oh no!'

 Zhao Li Xin's keen hearing caught faint screams in the distance yet his expression remained placid there was no trace of joy or satisfaction lingering in his eyes only solemnity. The truth is, Zhao Li Xin truly gave them a chance to survive, though it was up to them how to take advantage of the opportunity.

That being said, Zhao LiXin had also read the nature of the relationship between Izzy and Bella, therefore he had predicted what could happen to them if he pushed them in extreme circumstances, he knew Bella would betray Izzy in a heartbeat. However, it didn't rule out the possibility that Bella would make a different decision, even though it was unlikely, but if she did, they might have a chance to survive.

If Bella was smart she would take the chance to trust Izzy, she she knew how the boy felt to her so the chance he would leave her was small so why not take the risk?

The young man's fighting style may be too careless and disorganized, however, he has a better ability to do melee attacks compared to Bella who only uses poison. That is because in his opinion Bella's poison was mediocre at best, though it's quite deadly for humans, but it has many limitations, not to mention it only has little effect on someone or beasts who have natural poison resistance, and without her weapon, she would need someone like that boy to do a melee attack.

That being so, she should give the health potion to the young man, while she could take a support role to help the boy. Only by working together, they could have the chance to survive.

 Alas, one nature cannot change easily. With one look Zhao knew what kinda woman Bella was as he had seen too many women like her in his time inside and outside the imperial Palace.

For some people, trusting other people it's not an easy matter, it took courage and fate to trust other people and no one knew better than Zhao Li Xin cause he was once like that as well, though it was ironic considering Mong Ki and Mong Yi always been nothing but loyal to him since he was just a weak child untill he becomes the leader of Hei Shen sect.

Regardless, he is still unable to place complete trust in other people in the same way as the four Palace Kings. That being said it is easier to treat them as a mutually beneficial relationship. Fortunately, Lory appeared then miraculously opened his heart. She makes him realize that all of this time he is never alone.

Not only the Mong brothers and the Four Palace Kings he also had his teacher, Tian Meng Ji who led him to the path of the cultivator, there also other Hei Shen members Like Lan Hua, Mei Gui, and others, all and all, when he looked back again he would see many people were following and trusting him wholeheartedly so how could he said he was alone.
