Whoosh!
"Whew… finally here."
Standing a few dozen meters away from the entrance to Daffors Village, a faint smile appeared on Valyr's face as memories from his past life began surfacing in his mind.
From the times he spent honing his strength for days on end just to be of greater help to the village, to the times he spent forming connections with both NPCs and players alike in preparation for his journey to the wider world of Greater Beyond.
"Definitely good times," murmured the young man to himself with a chuckle before finally deciding to head inside.
Swoosh!
Reactivating [Thousand Polymorph] to change his appearance to that of his Ylvar identity, Valyr briefly thought about the journey he took to get to this exact village.
Considering that it was already deep into the night when he teleported to the town that was nearest to the village, it went without saying that the staff member manning the Teleportation Hall of that Blacksmith Guild's branch was surprised that someone like him would appear.
Fortunately, when he briefly introduced himself to the man as Ylvar, the staff member's energy took on a 180 degree turn, seemingly thanking the heavens for being able to interact with a living legend.
With the man's help, he was able to get a map of the settlements that were connected to the town he was in, including the village that he planned to settle down in for a while.
Giving the man a bit of money as thanks for his help, he then left town after grabbing a quick meal before activating [Flash of the Azure Dragon] in order to reduce the travel time.
Though it would've taken him less time to arrive at Daffors Village if he were to activate [Flight of the Azure Dragon], the distance between Leivard Town and Daffors Village wasn't that far for him to warrant its usage.
Then again, even if he were to use it, he would've still arrived at the village pretty late at night.
'Now… where does the village leader reside again?' Jogging his memory of the village's layout from his past life, Valyr pushed his senses a bit more than usual as a rough idea of what he planned on doing popped up in his mind.
Thankfully, it only took a couple more minutes of walking through the village's main street for him to find the place he had in mind, arriving at the village leader's house a couple minutes later.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
"Who is it?" With him looking for the village leader at such a late time, it went without saying that Valyr had to knock on their door a few times to finally wake them up from their slumber.
Fortunately, once the village leader opened the door to see who was looking for him at such hours, the man's eyes immediately widened in disbelief as he recognized who Valyr was.
'I knew it was the right call to use Ylvar here.' Inwardly chuckling at the reaction the village leader gave him, he faintly smiled at the man before introducing himself, only to then apologize to the man after that.
Unsurprisingly, the man told him that it was fine, considering his identity, as well as the amount of prestige he now held thanks to the tournament.
"To think the Ylvar would grace our humble village," said the man with a wide smile on his face, prompting Valyr to briefly glance at his current surroundings.
Though Daffors Village was still considered a village due to its population, the territory it occupied was more than enough for it to be considered a town.
'I guess the large territory it occupies is one of the reasons why Greater Beyond chose players to appear in this village,' thought Valyr to himself.
'Well, there's also the fact the village decided to embrace a more rustic style of architecture. That's probably another reason why the game chose this place.'
"Ah, right. Where are my manners?" Shifting his attention back to the man in front of him, Valyr was greeted by the sight of the man giving him a half-bow as he introduced himself. "My name is William Daffors. I am the leader of this village."
"Though… I'm sure you already know that, given how you decided to knock on my door," said William soon after as he let out a wry chuckle.
Feeling like the atmosphere surrounding them grew more awkward by the second, the man let out a slight cough as he shifted the topic, asking Valyr what brought him to the village all of a sudden.
With that, just like the answers he gave both to Elder Alvin and Julian, the young man told William that he'd come to the village in preparation for the beings Scho'doxa reminded them to keep in mind.
Though, rather than beating around the bush like he did with Julian, Valyr was a bit more straightforward when it came to talking with William.
"The beings will be appearing at this village once the new version arrives," he said to the man, leaving the latter at a slight loss for words. "I'd suggest the entire village prepares for their arrival."
"Wait… huh?" Taking a bit of time to regain his bearings, William looked back at him with slight suspicion. "How do you know that?"
"Let's just say Scho'doxa gave me a heads-up before I returned," replied the young man, showing no hesitation to throw the arbiter of the recent tournament under the bus.
"Hmm… if it's him, then…" Fortunately, that was more than enough for William to trust his words. "Is there anything specific that we need to do, then?"
"Not really." Valyr shook his head, only to pause for a bit. "On second thought, it'd probably be for the best if you give all of the village's problems to those beings once they arrive."
"Er… and the reason for that is…?"
"I can't explain it just yet…" The young man bitterly smiled at him. "But you'll see once the time comes."
"…Well, alright then."
After giving the village leader a heads-up on the appearance of the beings a few days from now, he then told William the reason why he was at the village in the first place, which was to set up a shop where he could sell the equipment and concoctions he created.
Of course, considering that Ylvar's identity as a blacksmith was eventually found out by everyone during the tournament, it was no surprise that the man agreed to the idea, even going so far as to give him a plot of land for the shop he planned on making.
After coming to an agreement on a few other details regarding his idea of setting up a shop, Valyr eventually bade farewell to William as he made his way to the plot of land the latter gave to him.
Seeing that the land not only covered a decently large area, but was also situated near the village's main street, the young man inwardly thanked William for his help as he began to take things out of his spatial bracelet.
"Alright. With Step 1 done… time to move on to Step 2."
"Which is… to build the shop itself."
