Chapter 79 Dangers Doubled
With the sounds of approaching undead growing louder, Lucas turned to his group. "Get ready, everyone. We're about to face a new wave of enemies, and they won't be as easy to deal with as that bird. Stay alert and watch each other's backs."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The group nodded, their expressions reflecting a mix of determination and fear. They had come a long way, facing numerous challenges together, and they knew they had to rely on their teamwork and individual strengths to survive.
Three undead birds came out of the hole while pushing each other while flying, Lucas couldn't help but feel uneasy.
The birds that came together were three in numbers and getting one of them was tough enough in the air the first time.
"Uncle John, think you can get one from here?" Lucas asked pleadingly while looking at Uncle John.
"... I can only try Lucas but don't think it will be successful until I do it." Uncle John made his icicle arrow within four seconds and stretched the bow's string to the maximum.
The three birds did not go up nor did they do down, they just kept flying forward toward them in a straight line while directing some distance between themselves.
John moved his bow right and left to get the idle accuracy but the way the birds kept moving, he wasn't very sure. In the end, because his arms were vibrating a bit.
He crouched down and made his bow station horizontally and just after that, his accuracy went up by a lot.
John angled his bow and when the right moment came, he took a deep breath and shot it.
SHOOM!
"Ugh!" John grunted a little when he saw that the string had scraped some of the skin of his arm but before it could start bleeding, a huge light shimmered near him.
Ella had finally achieved a breakthrough in her healing, the healing she was trying to increase in density at one time was successful before everyone's eyes.
The wound that opened closed in a few seconds from the intense healing and Ella's face was normal without any concern as if she was pretty confident with her healing.
Everyone other than Lucas's attention had gone to John but he couldn't do so, the arrow had already made its way toward the bird in the center and had pierced itself in the left wing.
The bird flapped its wings in frantic not because it was hurt but because it didn't have a way to fly properly.
Soon the weight of the wing that had the arrow stuck in it overcame the flight as it started to get down than the others.
The two left were still flying fast toward them and Lucas could only ask Sarah and Jerry to shoot too.
He had no way of taking down the birds safely other than the supporting skills like the throwables these people had.
Sarah and Jerry started throwing projectiles one after another but nothing hit as their aim was no good.
The two birds came too close and Lucas had no other way but to do things on his own.
He activated his perceptive eyes changing the world again and focused on the weak points this time around other than the dark matter.
Obviously, the highest colored weakness was the dark matter, then came the limbs that if cut will hinder the bird for a little while.
"Jimmy, carefully cut one of the wings by dodging left, the bird is brainless so it will keep moving forward. Everyone! Scatter to the side!!" Lucas spoke and did not deactivate the perceptive eyes letting them stay so that he doesn't do anything wrong.
Sarah and Jerry grit their teeth in annoyance but in the end, they messed up and had to see the consequences.
While the time was less and the birds very near, everyone did as they were told and got out of the way by scattering to the left and the right.
Lucas readied himself and waited for the bird to reach him with patience and calm. There was no point in getting scared and to be honest, he didn't feel any fear.
"Now! Jimmy!!"
Lucas at the right moment dodged the bird and placed his sword right at the trajectory of the wing that split on contact.
The bird had no reaction and it just went on the ground with a splash on the fleshy ground while trying to fly with only one wing brainlessly.
Lucas didn't look at the bird on the ground as he knew that he had already dealt with it and was confident that it won't show up in the air anytime soon.
Lucas's gaze fell on Jimmy but he sighed at the end. Jimmy was safe at the side but he was unsuccessful in hurting the bird as it flew right past but Lucas was happy that he didn't get hurt which was the most important part.
One of the birds was in the air but Lucas soon found that John had taken care of it after Jimmy dodged.
SHRIII
The bird that Lucas put the wing off came limping toward Lucas's leg with relentless shrieks but Lucas just grinned in response. He first stabbed the tip of his sword with precision in the head making it limp and then stabbed the dark matter right at the spine.
When he was done, the first that John pierced with his icicle already started to fly again yet this time Sarah's huge fireball hit it right in the face and because the fireball was very big, the size of a car tire, the bird was in mangles, not a new sight for Lucas.
John went to the one and stabbed it in the spine just like Lucas with an icicle in his hand that he made with the usual procedure yet didn't shoot.
And like this, the three birds that came were dealt for.
"More are coming, frontliners! Do as I did just now and you will not get infected, from now on... your life is in your own hands!!" Lucas shouted toward everyone with a wild face.
What do you think?
