CH.533 Completing Starstrike Blast
CH.533 Completing Starstrike Blast
Today is another one of those days. I’m just advancing with Pack Opener. In this case, fully completing the next set on the list.
The set of the day is Starstrike Blast. If I checked right, I’m missing 21 cards from the set.
And you know how this starts. 200 packs. It will get me most of what I’m missing, and after that, I’ll get the rest individually.
So let’s do this.
1 secret rare. From 200 packs. Really?
Psi-Blocker isn’t even that good. For my one secret rare, it is kind of disappointing. … Actually, maybe it isn’t? Since I can declare the name of a real person, I think, it should seal all their effects for a bit. In theory. So it can be good for that, but I need to know someone’s name. And other skill sealing cards are easier to use.
Anarchist Monk Ranshin is fine. It banishes something after getting sent to the GY by my opponent.
Power Breaker is fine as well. Decent attack and destroys a spell/trap when it is destroyed.
Royal Knight of the Ice Barrier is one of the worst monsters of all time. It is a level 5, with 2000 attack, and it summons a token to your opponent’s field when tribute summoned. And not even one of those 0/0 tokens, but a 1000/0 token. But I can just summon him, so maybe I’ll use him.
Dance Princess of the Ice Barrier is much better by comparison, even if it really isn’t all that amazing. But she is a cute girl and at least she doesn’t give my opponent a free token.
Karakuri Ninja mdl 339 "Sazank" is bad, like almost every other Karakuri.
D2 Shield is a fantastic trap. Not in the TCG, but for me. Just double someone's defense. And it isn't until the end of the turn, so it will last for an entire day. Plus it might be a good install card, though it will probably just give either Defense Boost or Shield Technique. But those are good skills.
Karakuri Klock is a Mirror Force for the Karakuri archetype. So not bad, but I won’t use it.
Naturia Cherries are cherries, so they can be used for food. As for the effect, it isn’t all that amazing for me. I just get more weak cherries.
Power Giant is fine. Good attack, but I don’t need the special summoning effect.
Scrap Twin Dragon is perfectly fine. Good stats and the effect is decent.
And Karakuri Shogun mdl 00 "Burei" is just about what you’d expect of a Karakuri Synchro monster. It specials a Karakuri on summon, which is nice, but outside of that, it just changes the battle position of monsters.
On top of those, I got a few cards that are new in that rarity, like I was missing the ultimate rare Shooting Star. But let’s check what I didn’t get.
So, I wasn’t missing much. Only 9 cards. And a few where I was missing a different rarity version, but I won’t count those.
Blackback would be alright if it was a spell, but it isn’t, so it isn’t worth using.
Skull Meister is fine for the TCG, but for me, do dead activate effects? If yes, then maybe I can find a use for Skull Meister.
Gaia Drake, the Universal Force is nice. Big attack with targeting and effect destruction immunity. And easy to summon with Miracle Synchro Fusion.
Different Dimension Ground is, again, good in the TCG, but not sure if I’ll need it. I don’t need to send corpses into different dimensions.
Spellstone Sorcerer Karood is pretty meh. Sure he has good defense and can gain more, but he has a limit of 1 counter, so not worth it.
Genex Ally Axel is okay. It acts as a combined Monster Reborn and Limiter Removal for level 4 or lower Machine-type monster.
The Fabled Rubyruda negates attacks by discarding a Fabled, which isn’t amazing, but isn’t bad either.
Dragunity Knight - Gae Dearg searches low level Dragon and Winged-Beast monsters, so it is good.
And Genex Ally Duradark is a bit too specific. Sure it has okay stats for a level 4, but the effect relies too much on swapping attributes.
But that is Starstrike Blast done. Good set, but would have been better if I didn’t get access to the two best cards by the way of the Synchro challenge.
Now, time for some daily practice. Unika was free, so I started with some bow practice.
By the way, the bow I use is a metal bow. I do also have a wooden one, made of world-treant wood, but that one still needs its mana build-up before it is ready for my use, so a metal bow is best for now.
Because a wooden one made of weaker wood will just snap when I try to use it. Damn my almost 6k Strength stat.
Today I was specifically going after the different ‘Shot’ skills. Mainly Embedded Shot and Spirit Shot. I don’t really need Hidden Shot and while Quick Shot would be nice, I don’t really want the Shot skills for use with a bow, but because they synergize with Restraining Sword Barrage.
But because of how showy Restraining Sword Barrage is, Hidden Shot doesn’t work with it. And Quick Shot doesn’t actually increase the firing rate of the skill either, so they don’t really help. But Embedded Shot does make the stun effect last longer, while Spirit Shot allows it to ignore armor and sometimes ignore the Daze Resistance skill, if my target happens to have it.
Daze Resistance works on things other than Restraining Sword Barrage and other similar stun/daze skills. It also helps resist things like heavy impacts that can daze you, or otherwise cause you to lose your footing. Thus the name of the skill being Daze Resistance, not Stun Resistance. And yes, it is absolutely a skill I would like to have, so I did try shooting my Restraining Sword Barrage at myself in hopes of getting the skill.
But sadly, I’m immune to my own Restraining Sword Barrage, so I need a different way of getting that skill. One of the ways I do that is by taking heavy impacts from my giant monsters, whose attack I’ve lowered to 0 with a card effect, while trying no to lose my footing.
And I can tell you, it isn’t easy to take Obelisk’s punch, even if he has 0 attack.
After that, I practiced with my whip, and Valoa joined me in that. He really is trying to get every weapon skill ever. He already had 4 of them when he evolved, and he has gained both Sword and Staff Technique after it.
And now he is going for Whip and Blunt Weapon Technique. If this keeps up, he’ll get some sort of Weapons Master class. Which honestly would be cool, and admittedly, I also have 4 different weapon technique skills, so I might get something like that as well.
Next was Unarmed Combat Technique training with Agunan and Ria. Ria is a really good opponent for me for that, because while I do overpower her in terms of stats, if she uses magic to boost herself, we are basically equally matched in terms of Strength.
And if she uses her gauntlets, her punches do some okay damage.
Lastly, Sword Technique. For that, I have to rely on my monsters. Today I was practicing with Gearfried the Swordmaster.
It does really hit me different that I can actually train with monsters that have almost 3k attack. Sure I can’t actually beat them on their terms, but if I use all of my skills, I could actually defeat one of them.
So when I only focus on training a single, or in this case 2, skill(s), they are perfect for it. Because their skills with the weapon exceed mine by a decent bit. But their strength is no longer something I stand no chance against.
After training, I washed myself before heading to my office to check up on the work.
Nothing new there, so I could just relax the rest of the day.
