“That’s quite an idea,” Chen Shiyu said with a smile, “It’s always said that the money of women and children is the easiest to earn, it should be no problem.”

Xu Fan was relieved to have his idea accepted and promised, “There won’t be any problem with the product’s effects, they’ll even be better than what I’ve described. I just wanted to share the initial concept with you and get your agreement before proceeding to realization.”

Xu Yixue and Chen Shiyu looked at each other, both very pleased, feeling highly respected by Xu Fan.

Xu Yixue said, “I agree with you. Let’s divide the responsibilities, you’ll handle the product, Shiyu will be the spokesperson, and Xinghai Media will take care of the marketing operations. “Why would she go to Shengshi Hotel?” Xu Fan remembered Ye Xiaoning had no such plan before she left.

“I don’t know either. I had just asked Xiao Ning to prepare for Shiyu’s new song, to finalize the lighting, outdoor scenes, photography, and such,” Xu Yixue’s brow furrowed slightly.

“What could the urgent matter be?” Xu Fan had a feeling something was amiss.

“She didn’t say, only that I should hurry over,” Xu Yixue sensed something was off too, and sent a voice message, “Xiao Ning, what’s the matter?”

Chen Shiyu by her side analyzed, “Could it be that Xiao Ning encountered something that only you can handle?”

“That’s not possible,” Xu Yixue rejected the possibility, “I understand her well. If it’s official business, she would call, not use WeChat, and she would never leave things unclear.”

“Then there’s a problem,” Chen Shiyu became puzzled as well.

After waiting a good while without a reply from Ye Xiaoning, Xu Yixue could no longer sit still. She tried calling, only to find the phone was turned off.

Xu Yixue clenched her teeth, said nothing, grabbed her bag, and prepared to head to Shengshi Hotel.

After leaving the company, Xu Fan called Xu Dan, who was resting in the office lounge, while driving. He instructed him to be extra vigilant and to contact him immediately if there was anything he couldn’t handle.

Xu Fan suspected that the other party might be drawing the tiger away from the mountain, using Ye Xiaoning to lure him away before directly targeting Xu Yixue.

He drove swiftly toward Shengshi Hotel, the car roaring on its way.

The clock turned back more than half an hour.

Ye Xiaoning was about to take the elevator to run an errand with Xiao Ping when she suddenly received a call from her father. He was cornered in Shengshi Hotel by loan sharks, and they threatened severe consequences if the ransom wasn’t paid.

Ye Xiaoning’s family situation was far from good; her parents divorced when she was very young, and her father would always hang around gambling dens, having lost their house to gambling debts. With a “clang,” the door was opened by a hulking man with an exposed chest and tattoos, his bare arms massive and his face covered with a grim expression. Right on his shoulder was a coiled rattlesnake tattoo.

Even though Ye Xiaoning had some self-defense skills, facing such an intimidating presence as a young woman was nevertheless frightening, but with her father in these people’s hands, she mustered the courage to confront them.

As soon as she entered, the muscular man closed the door behind her. Ye Xiaoning looked back, uneasy, and the man gave her a shove that almost made her stumble.

“Miss Ye, hello there,” said the buzz-cut, muscled man sitting on the sofa, adorned with a chunky gold chain. His jowls quivered as he spoke, which was quite intimidating. He looked at Ye Xiaoning with a predatory gaze, appraising her from head to toe.

The other three men circled around Ye Xiaoning, their eyes not hiding their lascivious desires as they whistled teasingly, almost as if they couldn’t wait to pounce on her and devour her whole.

Ye Xiaoning, with her short hair and slender figure, had a delicate, heart-shaped face and looked innocent and lively with her light makeup. Although she couldn’t compare with Xu Yixue and Chen Shiyu, she was still a beautiful woman, certainly the level of a university campus belle.

“What’s your agenda? Where’s my dad?” Ye Xiaoning asked loudly, mustering up the courage.

Had her father not been missing, Ye Xiaoning would have long thought about breaking down the door to escape.

“Don’t worry, how could I let my father-in-law suffer?” the buzz-cut man with the gold chain pursed his lips and said, “Old Four.”

Old Four opened the bathroom door, revealing a person curled up on the floor, tightly bound with rope, eyes covered with black cloth, a rag stuffed in his mouth, and with obvious signs of having been beaten, his face swollen and bruised.
