Chapter 466: The War In Asgard, IV
The ground shook with his voice echoing throughout Asgard. Everyone who was strong enough could tell that they were in real trouble, the thing that landed in the middle oozed a dangerous kind of aura.
"Everyone who is not a guardian, fall back!" A voice that called out from the darkened sky was heard before they could see Nikolai Black falling and landing perfectly in the front lines. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
None of the players knew this but this war was being broadcasted live on every big screen in Sanctauri, it was as though the televisions were infected by some kind of virus, nothing else could be watched, nobody could change the channel either.
Nikolai and Felix decided to come back immediately when they saw that the war had started, they postponed the funeral.
Everyone in the battlefield knew who they were so when his words rang across they immediately fell back.
This earned them a sinister laugh from the harbinger, it sounded like something was caught in its throat. The voice was gruff and intimidating.
"You can run but I’ll be honest with you, no distance will make you safe from me." The beast said proudly.
"Excuse us if we’re not taking your word for it." Hiro shot back, he hoped they could keep it talking and stall for time, Kiro and the hellhounds were very much needed. Especially if another harbinger of its calibre were to shoot through the portal.
The harbinger’s maw cracked into a sinister and mocking smile. It had no armour on but anyone who was an experienced fighter could tell you that the scales would be even harder to pierce.
It looked like a hybrid between a dragon and a very malnourished and ugly wolf. The way it looked only added more to why people felt the fear they felt upon its arrival.
LJ was the only inexperienced fighter who didn’t move when Nikolai told them to get back, not because she was disobeying she was completely frozen.
The harbinger had a field around him, something he could use to completely paralyse its prey. That’s what caught LJ like a deer in headlights. She could feel her every sense slipping away from her.
The harbinger looked her way, her eyes were moving so fast they could pop out of their sockets. She was desperately trying to move her limbs but everything else was failing.
"You’ll be first!" It said turning to her direction and completely disappearing from the naked eye.
LJ was panicking but with no way of moving out of harm’s way, she started regretting not listening to Isla and understood why as an archer she needed to keep her distance, as far as possible if close quarter combat wasn’t something of a specialty.
But of course, the guardians present weren’t going to just watch this happen. Every single one of them moved from their positions at the same time as the harbinger, but the distance and the speed was not on their side.
Nikolai had tried to use his ballad of death skill despite knowing that sound travelled far slower than the harbingers he could not just do nothing but they were failing, all of them, almost all of them.
While others couldn’t see the beast running straight for their comrade Isla could follow its speed with just the eyes. She knew she wouldn’t be fast enough so she was standing like a statue, her bow and arrow drawn, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
She was counting the steps it took, she didn’t want to let go of the arrow too soon and the harbinger to pass the arrow without any impact, she knew she only had one chance, only one to save LJ.
Time seemed to slow down, her eyes could follow the beast the moment they adjusted and were used to the speed she fired the arrow, way too close to LJ, only a couple of meters away. Isla looked around and locked eyes with a Hiro that was already on the move, he landed right in front of LJ with his shield protecting her from the blast of the arrow.
Much like Isla he saw everything, assessed the situation from where he was without communicating with Isla and ran to help.
Within milliseconds the arrow connected with the harbinger’s chest. The purple energy’s surge blasted the beast ways away from LJ, Nikolai was already there to scoop her up and away.
"Great job you two." Isla yelled to them from the heavens.
Hiro gave her a toothy grin and a thumbs up. The battlefield was dusty and mostly quiet, the harbinger was lying on the ground, eyes wide open, surprised that they were able to push it back.
It quickly got to its feet, "I underestimated you, that’s my fault I don’t blame you one bit but now you’ve pissed me off, you’ve taken someone I’ve already marked as my first kill."
Two more arrows flew to where the harbinger was but since this time it was not entirely focused on LJ it was able to deflect them. The damage the previous arrow had was minimal, its scales were able to protect it completely.
Upon deflecting the two arrows its attention was entirely drawn to Isla, it looked up, as far as she was it could see her from a view that was much closer.

"Seeing as it is entirely your fault, you will pay for this dearly idiot." It proclaimed proudly, jumping from the solid ground and taking to the air. Hiro had already jumped up stopping the harbinger in its tracks, giving Isla ample time to build some distance.
Other guardians starring piling onto the harbinger one by one they were tossed out of the way, Hiro and his shield were on their way to ground, Viktor’s jaw was punched so hard it threatened to cave in. Isaac received a mean kick to the head, that momentarily gave him double vision.
Isla tried running but the monster was already inches behind her, she turned to blast it away with another arrow but it had already grabbed her by the neck.
"Think you’re strong do you?" It mocked, "let’s see just how much."
Everyone thought it would tore her into shreds but it instead disappeared with her and appeared in front of the portal and threw her in.
What do you think?
