Chapter 92: Chapter 92: Southern Water Tribe
Chapter 92: Chapter 92: Southern Water Tribe
[3rd POV]
After a couple of days of staying on the boat, which mostly consisted of relaxing, watching the waves and even reading a bit.
The food on the boat was pretty good, primarily because Gwen herself was the one making most of it, after the chef made some...not very good seafood, and she got a bit annoyed. It would have been fine normally, but he burnt the shit out of the food, hence why she decided to be the one to cook.
Besides that, she had talked with Tenzin a bit, and was contemplating whether or not she was going to go to the Air Temples around the globe with Tenzin and his family, or if she was going to go with Korra, and deal with all that madness. She was more tempted with the Tenzin idea, as Korra had some stuff she needed to deal with personally, that she needed for her own personal growth, like learning the story of Wan and the story of Unalaq, and such things.
She ended up completing the "No more crime" quest once more during this time, giving her another 2 NL tickets. Soon following that was the other quest, giving her another 3. And once again, she decided on just saving the tickets until the next world, and then doing a mass assimilation all at the same time.
With the amount of tickets she was getting, Gwen realized that the battle with Darkseid, and subsequent massive jump in power, seemed to have made her progress to the next system level, absolutely sky rocket. She wasn't sure why, but she imagined it was her power being so high now, and the worlds she was planning on going to. That, or the system had something new that was challenging, like a system function of some sort.
Whatever reason, Gwen wasn't going to complain, as power and knowledge, was power and knowledge.
At the moment Gwen was standing with the girls, as the boat had finally made it to the Southern Water Tribe, where a large group of people were waiting. Not for them of course, but for another boat that held the Tribe Leader of the Northern Water Tribe, Unalaq, as well as his children. Not to mention one of the richest men alive was also showing up soon, Varrick.
Stepping off the boat, with Tenzin and his family in front of them. Gwen blinked as she noticed several individuals. The first of which was Tenzin's sister a waterbender named Kya.
Standing besides her was someone Gwen instantly recognized, being one of her favorite characters from the first show. It was an elderly Katara.
"You must be Gwen, correct?" Katara asked Gwen, as she stepped off the ship.
"I am, and you're Katara, right? It's an honor to meet you" Gwen said genuinely, as she shook the small womans hand, as she smiled in return.
"The honor is mine. Teaching Korra how to metalbend, lavabend, and even generate lightning. That is something that not even Aang was able to do until older, and the metalbending is certainly a first for an Avatar" Katara responded with a smile.
"So you're the teacher that's been showing up my brother? Honestly I was expecting you to be an old hag, but you're pretty young! How old are you kid?" Kya asked, as she looked over Gwen.
Raising an eyebrow at the question, Gwen responded "Turned 18 not too long ago. I'm just...lucky, thats all. Your mom is a lot more impressive, with the things she did when traveling with your Dad"
"Yeah right kid, you taught someone three different bending styles within like 2 months! And you're not even a Earthbender!" Kya argued, knowing the kid was skilled, much more than she let on.
"Kya, don't harass the young woman" Katara cut in, noticing the way her daughter was already getting a bit riled up. Something that was all too common with her and her other brother, Bumi. Said brother was also on the trip, currently in the process of teasing Tenzin about something.
"Alright mom, I'll leave her alone" Kya said with a pout, before walking over to join Bumi. "I apologize about her, she can be...headstrong" Katara said, causing Gwen to wave her off with a chuckle.
"It's fine. I've got to deal with Korra everyday, so it's not too different" Gwen responded with a smile, before Korra spoke up.
"Hey! I heard that! And cmon, I want to introduce you to my family!" Korra said, causing Gwen to give Katara a small wave, before walking over to Korra.
Standing besides Korra was her family, or the two other members of it at least.
Her father Tonraq, brother of Unalaq and the future Chief of the Southern Water Tribe And besides him was a shorter woman, Korra's mother, the waterbender Senna. Walking besides Korra, Gwen watched as she hugged her father closely, before pulling back "Dad, this is Gwen, she's my teacher in firebending and...a lot of things. She's also my best friend" Korra said, causing Gwen to blink, surprised at the best friend part, before smiling as she shook the tall mans hand.
"It's nice to meet you, Tonraq" Gwen said, staring the man down with a smile as he attempted to do the usual "Scare the potential suitor" that all Dad's did.
Seeing that his attempt was obviously failing, Tonraq just chuckled before shaking her hand "It's nice to meet you too, Gwen. Korra's told us a lot about you" Tonraq said, giving his daughter a teasing smirk, causing her to glare at him with a bright blush on her cheeks.
"Oh? Good things I hope" Gwen said.
"A lot of good things, like how you're really-" "Alright! Nope, that's over with now!" Korra said, cutting into the conversation before her father could embarrass her even more.
As they stopped, loud applause, cheers, and clapping came from the crowd near them, as a large and very expensive looking boat pulled up to the docks next to them. Their boat was large, and had all sorts of Northern Water Tribe markings on them.
"The great chief of the Northern water tribe comes to grace us with his presence...hurray" Tonraq said with a sarcastic eye roll.
"Just relax, Tonraq. He'll be gone soon enough" Senna said, calming her husband down. Tonraq let out a small sigh in response, but listened to his wife.
Stepping out of the large ship, was guards, and behind them was three individuals.
First, was the Chief of the Northern Water Tribe, Unalaq.
Behind him were his children, the twins Desna and Eska.
As the man walked to them, he turned and bowed slightly to Korra "It's good to see you again, Avatar Korra"
"Good to see you too" Korra responded, somewhat awkwardly due to the amount of tension in the area.
"Tonraq" Unalaq said simply. Not caring for the tension that was filling the areas around

"Brother" Tonraq said, borderline glaring at his brother as he looked at him stoically.
Looking between the two, Gwen cringed slightly, as she only really had one thought at that
moment.
'...This is so awkward'

That's the end of the chapter!
Question: Should Gwen go with Korra or Tenzin? If she goes with Korra, a decent bit of it will go the same as canon. If she goes with Tenzin, she'll interact more with their family, do some spirit shenanigans, and learn more about herself, and the system itself. Either way, I plan on her getting with Korra very soon. And just like my Unique Gamers Travels, next volume/arc is going to mostly be a character development arc with some special quests thrown in, and getting a new "Member of the family" of sorts.
Next chapter will probably be roughly the same length.
Anyways, have a good day!
