Chapter 104 Harrison's Arrival
104 Harrison's Arrival The wheels of the carriage rumbled through the street of Orsvald as the carriage made its way to the largest building inside the city, the castle of the Rain family which had been built at the very conception of the city.
Rain fell down and hit the roof of the carriage, producing an annoying sound that would usually bother those inside of it, but this carriage was well-protected and nothing could be heard from the outside as an array was activated from inside the carriage.
"Coming back at this time, are you certain that this is how you want to proceed with the plan, Harrison?" A man wearing spectacles asked as he leaned to the side and let his shoulder hit the wall of the carriage. His eyes lazily looked out of the window while Harrison sighed.
"I don't have a choice, waiting for longer will be detrimental to the plan," Harrison said as he stared at the man who was clearly unbothered by everything.
'If anything, you are the one that I am worrying about the most right now.' Harrison thought to himself as he looked at the man who suddenly stared back at him and smiled.
"Don't worry so much, as long as you continue paying me, I will be loyal only to you, even we mercenaries have to abide by our rules, not to mention that my guild is quite specific when it comes to that, you probably already know that hence you decided to employ one of us."
"Right, you of the 'Crimson Corps' are known for abiding by the very few rules you have, not to mention that you are generally cheaper than the others."
"Hahahahaha, yeah, the price is mostly thanks to what happened two years ago, we are still to fully recover the lost reputation that that bastard had cost us." The man said as an expression of anger appeared for a brief moment.
"Do you really think you can find him, don't forget that that is the main reason we have decided to ally with you, if you are to fail in locating him, then there will not be any rules we will abide by." The man said with a cold tone as he stared at Harrison with a cold look on his face. A slight killing intent escaped from him, making Harrison shudder slightly.
"Can you stop it with that, I already told you that it will not be a problem, from what I already know, the noble houses that are looking for him have already narrowed it down to a couple of areas, but none of them has the power my family has, nor do they have the same partner as me," Harrison said with a calm expression before sighing once again.
"So, when will I finally meet this partner of yours?" The man asked Harrison who looked out of the window, staring at the mansion of the Holad family that they were passing by.
"Soon," Harrison said in a calm fashion as a slight smile appeared on his face.
The Holad family was actually one of the important families that supported the eldest son of the Rain family, with them gone, he was sent in a spiral and was scrambling to find the perpetrator.
According to the rules of the Rain family, the families that had archmages and Titles Knights are not allowed to meddle in the younger generation. The children of the head of the family, as well as the others, could only gather support from the younger generation of such families.
Of course, one did not only have to gather support and allies from the allies of the Rain family, if one was able to get a neutral noble house to support them, but that would also be fine as well.
Harrison had done something exactly like that, but unlike his siblings, he had set his sights much higher and had partnered with a person that came from a family as powerful as his. If he was successful in his plans, then not only would he gain control over the family, but he would also successfully make an alliance that would make the position of the two noble houses firm and almost unshakable.
"Silver, how long have you been a Golden Knight?" Harrison suddenly asked the man opposite of him, Silver.
"How long, hmm, it's been about 5 or 6 months I believe, why?"
"In just that short period you have become a mid-grade Golden Knight, and that is without counting the detrimental effects that system had brought when it first appeared, I have to say, I can see why you are the one that is probably going to succeed the Crimson Lion and take over the corps in the future."
"Harrison." Silver suddenly said coldly.
"Pretty words and flattering won't work on me, they actually work the opposite, so drop the act."
"No, no act here, merely speaking what I think, after all, there is only one person in the corps that can go toe-to-toe with you when it comes to talent, but she also falls a bit short compared to you."
"If my plan works out, not only will you guys be able to find 'that' person, but you will be the one that will gain the most benefits as you are the one that trusted me and had told the corps to ally with me."
"I only did that because I saw the potential that an alliance with you would bring, not because I wished to gain any benefit from it, everything that I and the other members of the Corps do is for the benefit of the guild, nothing else."
"Of course, and do not worry, I will make sure that you guys will get your fair share of everything," Harrison said with a smile as he stared at the open gate of his family's castle.
Silver disappeared before they entered inside as Harrison didn't want anyone to know that he had such a powerful ally yet. He was to go to the hideout that Harrison had sent his three personal guards to make when he sent them to Orsvald weeks ago.
That was to be their headquarters and the place where the plan will finally start. Unbeknownst to anyone, events that would shake the entire city to its very core were going to start soon thanks to Harrison and his plan.
Things were already set in motion, and it was only a matter of time before everything would start.
On the other side of the city, Lyle was walking back to his house.
He had made a disguise and sold another batch of his gems and jewels, but unlike before, he was making many twists and turns around the city, making those that were following him aware that they had been found out.
'This is the second time, it seems like I will need to stop selling things for a while, or I should simply go to the black market and sell them for a cheaper price.' Lyle thought as he was finally able to sense that his pursuers were gone.
He had sold the gems and jewelry for the fourth time now, and even though nothing was out of the ordinary the first two times he went to sell them, he was able to sense that somebody was monitoring him the third time.
He was unaware of how or why, but it was obvious that someone was interested in the things he was selling, probably the ones that were behind the robbery.
He quickly made his way over to a couple of alleys and walked through some abandoned buildings in order to make sure nobody was following him anymore before changing his disguise and getting back home.
"You lost him as well?" A man asked the three that were following Lyle before.
"Yes, sir, he found out, I don't know how though." One of the three said as the man stayed silent.
"Alright, go back to the base, you are dismissed for now."
"Thank you, sir!" The three all said before disappearing from the spot. All three were Bronze Knights and not average ones. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
They had been trained in espionage and assassination for years and were very well proficient at tailing people and making sure they were not found out.
"A Silver Knight at the very least." Another voice said as a figure showed up behind the man.
"Perhaps even a Golden Knight, like master thought." A third voice said as a woman appeared to the side.
"Elena, do you think you can follow his trail?"
"No, it's already gone, whoever it is, he is good at covering his tracks and disappearing, better than any person we have gone up against in the past," Elena said as she shook her head at Jonah.
"I see, then we should go back, master has arrived, and the mercenary he has hired should already be at the headquarters, it won't be good to have him wait for long," Jonah said as Ian stepped out of the shadows completely.
"Should we truly continue with this, we should tell master at the very least, we now have enough power to go against whoever that thief is, even if he is a Golden Knight."
"Yes, we probably should do so, we should also get ready for punishment, we have after all gone directly against what master had ordered us to do," Jonah said with a calm voice before all three of them made their way toward the headquarters where Silver was already waiting for them.
What do you think?
