Poison God's Heritage

Chapter 898 Petty-Bao

"We'll have to head off first, while this ship is fast, it will take several years for it to reach Master Tonfa's territory," he said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Even if it went full speed it can't reach the area where there is Master Tonfa's protection. So I can ask a few members to push it all the way there while we teleport there first," he said.

"I can just simply take it with me, after all I need some of the lab materials from there," I said.

"You have a holding bag that can fully accept such a giant thing inside it? Even my holding bag can only hold half this thing's size… it's too big," he said.

I stopped a cheesy joke from escaping my mouth and said, "I can manage, Automaton", I said.

Without skipping a beat, a large enough portal opened up and swallowed the ship entirely then disappeared soon after.

Don Ma was confused about what just happened, but he didn't pry too much.

We walked inside the outpost and a man soon arrived to talk with Don Ma, their conversation was brief and I noticed a slight annoyance appear on Don Ma's face.

He soon came to take me to the teleportation gate to the HQ and I asked him, "Something the matter?"

"Nothing serious… well, to be honest, it is serious but there's nothing we can do about it," he said sighing.

"Looks like you have a lot on your plate," I said.

"Pretty much," he thought for a second as we arrived to the teleportation and had to wait for them to prepare it for us.

"Emm, since you work with poison and know a lot about death and life… would you know the reason why a planet would die overnight?" he asked.

That came out of nowhere, "I don't fully understand your question," I said.

"Basically," he said trying to choose his words, "This is the second planet so far that has fully died down, not even grass is alive. And when we went to investigate, we found nothing of relevance, it's as if they just all stopped living… we thought it might be a poison propagation at first, but poison shouldn't spread from one planet to another," he said.

I frowned thinking, "I don't fully grasp the things you're talking about, and though there are poisons that can annihilate a planet, I don't think any of them can escape the planet's pull… why what's going on?" I asked.

"Nothing serious, both planets had nothing but beasts in them, they were basically dead planets so we're not in a hurry to find out the reason why things just died there…but now it happened again and it's going to cause unrest, so I'll have to personally go and investigate," he said.

"When are you leaving?" I asked him.

"Should be soon after I help you meet with Tonfa," he said.

"Right," I nodded to him, "When that time comes, tell me, I'll send an avatar with you so it can investigate."

"That would be helpful thank you, but shouldn't you stick close to your avatar?" he asked.

"No, I need him to also gain experience and grow in strength, I kinda neglected him for a long time," I said.

The teleportation soon lit up and we walked inside, and immediately after we reached the HQ, we took another teleportation to a different place.

I had no knowledge of the distance nor the location in this galactic universe I was in, but due to the lengthy port of the teleportation I knew it was pretty far.

Once we arrived, it was another outpost-like structure built atop an asteroid that floated aimlessly in space.

"We're in Tonfa's territory," he said and nodded forward.

Three men wearing similar robes to Master Tonfa, gold and white robes approached us, "Master Don Ma, and Honorable Guest Shen Bao, please follow us," they said.

And so we did, once again another teleportation inside the outpost and we arrived to a massive open land with what seemed to be a sect built on top.

We were inside a planet. The spiritual energy was abundant and there seem to be a formation inside the sect that further absorbed more of this energy.

"Since you are our guests, flight is permitted to reach the Heavenly Peak, please follow us," the guide said and the three of them flew ahead of us.

We both followed suite keeping a close distance until we arrived to one of the mountain peaks of the sect. the height was comparable to the mountain near the Blue Sun's Sect and the energy was almost similar.

"Dragon Vein," I muttered.

"Oh, you sensed it, it's hidden pretty deep," one of the guides said.

I frowned, if it's hidden deep, how come it's giving off so much energy at the surface.

"Elder Tonfa had set up a formation that rotates the Qi from the depth to the surface and sends it back, so the dragon vein doesn't get exhausted. We're also permitted periodically to cultivate there if we achieve any results or bring honor and glory to the sect," the guide declared proudly.

Just as soon as we touched the peak, finding ourselves next to a massive palace like structure that was a mix of… well palace and factory, the three guides excused themselves.

"Shen Bao! Brother Don Ma!" I heard as the slightly chubby form of Master Tonfa came out from the palace to meet us, "I didn't expect you to arrive this fast! I would have personally come out to greet you," he said.

"No need, Shen Bao, I'll leave you with Master Tonfa then," he said.

"Hold," I said as I pulled out Shen Mo, "Take him with you," I said as I allowed Shen Mo to use half my consciousness and half of his Dark Soul.

I needed the other half for experiments.

"Thank you," he said as he flew and pulled Shen Mo alongside him.

"What was that?" Tonfa asked.

"He needed someone to investigate a planet dying," I said.

"Oh I heard about that, it's been a nuisance of news to the Grand Elder for a while now," he said.

"How long has this been going on?" I asked.

"About three to four months ago," he said.

I frowned some more.

"You look like you have something to say about that," Tonfa said.

"No, it's… never mind it's impossible," I shrugged the thought out.

"Indeed, regardless all of you barely arrived a week ago, so there is no way it would be your doing, no one is even humoring that thought," he said.

I nodded to him, and then he said, "Follow me now, we have much to do and a lot to talk about," he said as he hurried inside.

I walked inside and was met with several cultivators wearing scholar-like robes and moving about with several parchments and notes all over the place. The smell of herbs and the shattered essence of used Qi permeated the place.

This was a place of alchemy and formation creation.

The palace's inside was packed with busy working cultivators who heeded no mind to even Tonfa as they worked their hardest.

I nodded, "Efficient and productive," I said.

"Indeed, we only choose the best of the best to work here, they'll be helping you create a concoction to eliminate the Broodmother," he said as he guided me to a lower floor.

If the upper part looked like a small marketplace with people, the floor down was like a beehive of people. Everyone seemed to have bangs under their eyes, and they were almost obsessed with their work.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Parts and pieces of dead rakshasa littered the place as they tried many things upon these bodies. Not only that, there were even several white rakshasa caged and captured in cells that had several formations around that stopped vibration and sound. Several cultivators stood in front of the cages holding notes and jotting down things while some fed the rakshasa some actually tried to test all sorts of things on them.

From poisoning them, burning them, icing them, and so on. Regardless, nothing of that caliber would ever work.

"This is where you'll be working," Tonfa said, as he pointed at a relatively empty room with three scrawny-looking cultivators next to it.

"Master Tonfa," the three said sheepishly as they nodded at Tonfa and right before the man could reply, another person soon arrived.

"Oh Master Tonfa, it's good to see you here," he said as he arrived.

He looked to be slightly above middle-aged, though he is probably more than ten thousand years old, after all he's a Heaven Stage cultivator. "This is the team that I prepared for dealing with the Broodmother." He said.

Tonfa frowned, this was obviously a move on this man's part to make it difficult to reach any conclusive result.

"What's the meaning of this?" Tonfa asked, "Where is Bao Bao?" he asked.

"Ah, I delegated him to work on a tool to break the Golden Capped Nobles's defensives, he's busy right now and he's almost at a breakthrough, don't underestimate these kids, they are pretty smart," he said.

"Are you trying to piss me off? Xuan Fei!"

"I beg your pardon Master Tonfa, but this was delegated by the Elders, they are more interested in the elimination of the weaker forces, we already wasted too much resources on the advent of the Queen, and this is the best allocation of our minds. Not to mention the elders had said that if this man," he threw me a snarky glance, "Was as smart as he said, then he'll achieve results regardless," he said.

Master Tonfa was about to blow up into a rage before I said, "No worries, introduce me to these kids then, and I'll handle the Broodmother's research from now on, also, I don't think you have the necessary tools for me to work here," I said.

"What do you mean by that!? Are you underestimating my sect's ability to provide resources!" Xuan Fei roared out.

He was looking for trouble… it seems that my presence threatens some of his goals.

Do you want to be petty?

I grinned as I waved my hand opening a portal right inside my Lord of Lords pagoda's research facility.

I can also be petty.
