Chapter 1292: Mystic Human

Chapter 1292: Mystic Human

Then again, even though Valyr wanted nothing more than to check out what his new species was capable of, the young man still spent over half an hour in the bathroom to wash off the gunk on his body.

Though, that was mostly due to the fact that a rancid stench still exuded out his skin even after washing most, if not all of the gunk off.

By the time all of the dirt on his body was thoroughly removed, the young man went ahead and made his way in front of the mirror, wanting to see if the difference in species would bring about changes to appearance like becoming a High Human did.

Unfortunately for Valyr, nothing about his appearance had changed whatsoever.

The head of light gray hair he had was still the same, and so were his mesmerizing pair of golden irises.

However, even though nothing about his appearance had changed, the same could not be said about the air he was giving off.

If the aura he exuded before his species changed was that of a blade waiting to be unsheathed, then the aura he gave off now was akin to that of a scholar who had spent most of his life accumulating all types of knowledge out there.

Deciding to see what would happen if he were to infuse a bit of killing intent in his aura, Valyr soon raised his eyebrow in interest, noticing that the intent had combined with the scholarly aura he was giving off before.

If he were to be specific as to what the combination felt like, it was as if the term 'blade waiting to be unsheathed' had become a reality.

Realizing that it had now become more difficult to discern his killing intent even if he were to radiate his killing intent in its entirety, Valyr soon began to nod in understanding as a faint smile began to adorn his face.

Coming up with various ideas on how he could make use of the change to the fullest, the young man eventually pushed those thoughts aside as he commanded the system to bring up the description of his species in full detail.

Ding!

[Reforged Mystic Human | Junior Defier of Fate] (Species)

Not all humans are born equal.

Some are given the ability to tap into a wellspring of strength, allowing them to achieve feats that would be nigh-impossible for one person to achieve on their own.

Others are given the ability to make excellent use of their words, giving them to ability to have others follow each and every command they utter.

There are also those who are given the ability to resist great amounts of damage, only succumbing to their injuries after their tenacious willpower had given them the signal that they could not go on any further.

And then... there are those gifted with the ability of a more capable mind.

Some of them are granted the ability to calculate large numbers with ease, while some of them are granted the ability to memorize tens of thousands of words in a matter of seconds.

Some become more attuned to the world of energy, while some become more attuned to the unchanging concepts that govern the entire universe.

Nevertheless, no matter what kind of form this gift takes in their lives, these people have one thing in common.

A powerful spirit. A powerful soul.

Once the strength of this soul breaks through an indescribable bottleneck, one would be able to enter a realm of existence above that of a normal human, yet still lacks in comparison to an existence like that of a High Human.

Leveraging the strength of their powerful souls to the fullest, these types of humans have become known throughout the universe as Mystic Humans, or humans whose powerful spirits have given them the ability to interfere with the world through thoughts.

Of course, how much these humans could interfere with the world still depend on how strong their spirits are, with some capable of moving mountains through a single thought alone.

However, the fact that these humans are capable of such feats is not the reason why the universe have come to recognize their existence.

If anything, it's the possibility they hold to transform into existences matching High Humans in level.

Existences only known throughout the universe... as Espers.

And for those who become Mystic Humans through their own efforts, becoming an Esper is not really a matter of how. It's only a matter of when.

...

Descriptions regarding the Junior Defier of Fate have been omitted.

<Racial Skill: Manifestation of the Defiant Mystic Spirit - Having broken through the bottleneck, the spirit has taken on a more tangible form, transforming into what's more commonly known as the Mystic Spirit.

By allowing the Mystic Spirit to manifest, the Mystic Human becomes capable of achieving feats normally considered impossible, transforming the strength of one's mind into something more tangible.

This skill allows the user to temporarily convert the strength of their mind into one of the eight main stats. The rate of conversion, as well as the duration of the skill, is dependent on both the willpower of the user and the amount of Mystic the user has.

As the user is a Defier of Fate, the conversion rate of the Mystic stat has been improved.

Base conversion rate: 25 stat points per 1 Mystic. Base duration: 3 minutes per 1 Mystic. Cooldown: 1 hour.>

<Racial Passive 1: Defiant Mystic Spirit - Having broken through the bottleneck, the spirit has taken on a more tangible form, transforming into what's more commonly known as then/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Mystic Spirit.

The Mystic Spirit is the wellspring that allows the Mystic Human to achieve feats that would normally be considered impossible, manifesting the strength of one's mind in physical form. This passive allows the user to awaken the Mystic stat, a stat that not only boosts the user's INT and WIS, but is also the stat that the species' racial skill scales off of.

As the user is a Defier of Fate, the conversion rate between INT and WIS to Mystic has been improved, as well as the effects of the Mystic stat itself.

A single point of Mystic is obtained for every 200 points of INT and WIS the user has, boosting the user's INT and WIS by 0.3% per point.>

<Racial Passive 2: Mystic Spirit of Defiant Fortitude - Many consider the human race to be... description has been omitted.

As the user is a Defier of Fate, the effects of the passive has been improved.

This passive increases the user's INT, WIS, PER, as well as the user's maximum HP and MP by 5% each. Also boosts the user's INT, WIS, and PER by 10 points each, as well as the user's

resistance to mental-related debuffs by 20%.>

<Tribulation 1: The XP cost to upgrade one's level or one's skills have been tripled.>

<Tribulation 2: All enemies slain by the user that are at least one level lower than their current level now only yield 1 XP.>

"Well, the part about me becoming a Junior Defier of Fate isn't all that surprising." Reading through the description of his new species with great interest, Valyr immediately glossed over the part talking about how he'd become a Defier of Fate yet again.

"After all, the same thing happened when I used the Records as my other self," muttered the young man to himself as he continued to read.

"As long as I don't do anything too absurd, like what I did back then with the Alltide's curse, I should be able to remain as a Junior Defier of Fate until I reach the higher ranks."

"As for my current species..." Valyr let out a slight chuckle. "I definitely wasn't expecting to turn into a Mystic Human."

Although he hadn't become a Mystic Human himself in his past life, the young man still knew a few of his friends who had inadvertently become Mystic Humans themselves. Surprisingly, almost all of his friends who became Mystic Humans had classes similar to his own, with all of them having something to do with the manipulation of energy. Then again, even the only exception among his friends had a class that had something to do with the spirit, being a defender who specialized in tanking mental and magic attacks. Reading through the skills he obtained from his new species in great detail, Valyr faintly nodded every once in a while, seeing that the effects of the skills more or less matched up what he saw whenever he was playing with those friends of his.

"To think the racial skill worked that way," muttered the young man as his eyes glanced over [Manifestation of the Defiant Mystic Spirit], only to begin shuddering as he thought more

about it.

"Even if I compare it to the improved racial skill I got as a Reforged High Human, this skill would probably turn out to be better," murmured Valyr to himself. "After all, even though it scales off the Mystic stat, the effects of the skill are also reliant on my willpower."

"...I better not entertain the thought any further."

Shaking off the wild imaginations that were surfacing in his mind, the young man soon closed

the screen he brought up, more than satisfied with the transformations brought about by reaching the 3rd stage of the Records.

"Speaking of which, how long did it take me to reach the 3rd stage?" asked the young man to himself, realizing that he had yet to check how much time passed since he attempted the 3rd

stage.

Bringing up the system clock in front of him to figure out the answer, Valyr quickly began to calculate how much time had passed during his attempt to complete the 3rd stage. "The 1st stage took around 6 hours to complete, while the 2nd stage took around 2 days to complete..." murmured Valyr to himself, already expecting the worst outcome after thinking

a bit more about it.

"I hope I didn't take an entire month to complete the 3rd stage..." Inwardly wishing for the worst-case scenario to not be reality, the young man soon felt the heavens answer his wishes

as he took a look at the system clock.

"...Ah."

"I only took a week to reach the 3rd stage. Thank goodness."
