Malevolent Warlock: Sin Of Eternity

Chapter 51 General situation of Duan  city

51  General situation of Duan  city

Leon saw the lumisight Eyes as a get out of jail free card. No mage would be able to identify him as a warlock at first glance, this meant that he could go about his plans with no interruptions from now onwards.

It was like killing two birds with one stone, not only did he gain more freedom, he also gained a powerful tool to use in the future.

"This is the royal capital?" Gunta stood in front of the city Gates and couldn't help but feel some disgust.

There was litter all over the ground and homeless people roaming around the streets. This was supposed to be the royal capital of a kingdom? It was absolutely disgusting.

"We are still on the outskirts, maybe it gets better inside" Leon commented from beside Arian. He, too, couldn't help but wonder why the city was like this.....it was just so rowdy.

"Let's go" Leon stayed in front of gunta and Arian followed from his sides as they made their way down Duan city's streets.

During this little walk, they saw the true colors of the city. Warlocks getting arrested by the city guards for 'criminal activities'  meanwhile pickpockets, swindlers and beggars ran rampant on the streets.....the city was on the verge of collapse.

The city had become an asylum for fleeing warlocks and with the increase in number of Warlocks, the burden on the city just kept stacking.

The bell to an Inn rung as three figures stepped into the main lobby of the Inn.

This was Leon's group n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

The city was crowded, so they had to find a place to sit and strategize their next moves. In a city that hates warlocks, the worse thing to do was to walk into the hands of the wrong people.

"Hm?," from inside the booth of the main counter, a young lady with perky glasses took a glance at the new Arrivals before casually looking away.

"Hello, can we get a small courtyard?" Leon walked up to the young lady behind the booth and inquired.

There were small rooms and big rooms inside inns, but there were also courtyards meant for those who wanted to stay long term. This was the type of accommodation Leon was asking for.

"Hm, yeah, we have two available, 2 thousand" the lady after Sighing in a  Sort of annoyance, said to Leon and the rest.

They wanted a courtyard, that meant they were just entering the city. It was another group of mouths to feed. This was the normal sentiments the people in the city had for those coming In. They knew how much the standard of living had degraded because of the influx of warlocks and the likes.

"Pay the lady" Leon looked over at Gunta and said in a calm yet commanding voice. Gunta had done his best to raid the camp during the chaos, so even though they had to leave a lot behind, he still had so many more coins at his disposal.

However, this didn't mean that he would want to spend it. He was the type to hoard money, no matter what he was going through. Leon could remember seeing Gunta haggling with a guard before getting into the world traversing serpent.

"But…." Gunta wanted to complain, but decided against it. Leon was just too scary to disobey.

"Here's the key"

The young lady pulled out a bunch of keys and handed it to Leon. Clearly, he was the one calling the shots. She had watched him force gunta to hand over the cash he was hoarding.

"Ah yes, there's also another matter"

Leon said before pulling out about 5 silver coins and placing them on the table.

"I wonder what the general situation is in the city ever since the Warlocks got degraded to unintelligent beast class" Leon asked the young lady for information. The keepers of the inns were one of the most informed bunch in the entire kingdom, be it from the royal capital to the smallest village.

"The Warlocks still remain in the intelligent being class in Duan city, I don't know what you're talking about" the young lady refuted Leon's words.

This was a loaded question, if she agreed with Leon's characterization of the warlocks, she could get in trouble with her bosses who preferred not to get on the bad side of the warlocks.

"Ah? I see, then tell me about the warlocks general situation since the decree" Leon slipped her another 5 coins and added. Her previous words carried no weight, she only needed to be "persuaded" a bit more.

'Hmp!!" The young lady reached forward and swiped the 10 silver coins into her robes. The 2,000 the Inn made had nothing to do with her, what was really important were these 10 sliver coins, as they represented her earnings that were hers alone.

"After the decree from the King, there was a bit of cleansing in the city that saw the death and enslavement of about 500 warlocks or so, But all of a sudden, guards started stopping people from doing this the very next day"

"Apparently, several old monsters from the warlock clans threatened to blow up the city if the killing didn't stop. You know how it is, the rich wouldn't want to lose all they had worked for, so he let them stay"

"Hmmm, I noticed several guard outfits during my day in the city, what's that About?" Leon asked.

"Hm, because of the influx of warlocks, the king had to conscript some of the noble family's and other organizations from all over the kingdom to keep the peace in the city.

They are here for three things, to thin the herd, to keep the city from collapsing and to face off against the Warlocks if ever they decide to raze the city to the ground"

The lady explained in depth the situation of the city. She laid bare all the secrets she knew, and Leon didn't hesitate to milk her for all she was worth. He asked her so many questions that she became somewhat exhausted.

"That's all for today. Let's go" Leon smiled at the young lady before leading Gunta and Arian into the Inn.

He had all he wanted for now
