Chapter 106 Get on the bus
The bus's front door opened, revealing a dim interior.
Standing still with his umbrella, Du Wei locked eyes with Andrew Dowqui, who was seated in the driver's seat, but then Dowqui turned his head away.
Standing beside him was a nun whose aura was growing increasingly sinister.
With a deep breath, Du Wei remained outwardly calm.
In his mind, he told himself, "The driver's seat is just a loophole. Without this safe spot, the situation has become a bit more complicated, but it's still under my control."
After a moment of thought, he silently pulled out his phone. It was 11:25 PM, just 35 minutes until midnight.
If James hadn't found and sealed the nun's head in the box by midnight, he would have to get off the bus, or he would never be able to leave.
Even after getting off, he would face other Evil Spirits...
Time was the most terrifying mechanism of the bus; to this day, Du Wei didn't know what would happen if he didn't get off after midnight.
Suddenly frowning, he quickly opened his contacts and sent a text to Alex.
[I have some things to do, I will try to come back by your birthday on next Tuesday...do not worry...]
Then, he stuffed his phone into his pocket and boarded the bus without hesitation.
The nun followed closely behind.
...
Inside the bus.
Contrary to Du Wei's expectations, there were very few passengers this time, only two.
One was a woman sitting in the first row on the right side, wearing an outdated wedding dress with a now yellowish hem stained with many dark brown bloodstains, clutching a sharp kitchen knife tightly in her hand.
Her complexion had a gray, lifeless cast, and from her skin tone and features, she seemed to have Latin roots...
Behind the mask, Du Wei only let his gaze linger on her briefly before heading to the back row.
In the last row of the bus, where the deceased anchorwoman Linda once sat, there was a familiar figure...
The woman with the Black Umbrella, covering her upper body and looking like a student.
At that moment, Du Wei sat at the left side by the window while she sat next to him, with Linda on the far right.
The bus passengers were Evil Spirits, and when Evil Spirits boarded, they would also get off.
Which means... the next stop for the bus should be that school?
Du Wei narrowed his eyes, his steps showing no hesitation as he walked to his original seat and sat down by the window.
The nun, however, was behaving very oddly...
Instead of beginning to fight against the bus's rules as soon as she boarded, causing the entire interior to fall into chaos as Du Wei had expected, she sat in the position closest to the rear door...
It seemed as if the bus driver becoming an Evil Spirit had only made its rules stronger, even the nun was suppressed.
After sitting down, Du Wei's gaze lingered on the nun, who had her back to him.
The nun was a more powerful entity than an Evil Spirit. According to what the African American couple said, there was a faceless Evil Spirit who had forcefully boarded the bus and killed people.
It could fight against the rules then, there was no reason the nun would be suppressed by the rules now that the driver had become an Evil Spirit.
Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind.
"Is it blocking the door, trying to keep me on the bus?"
In an instant, Du Wei's eyes grew cold, and he lifted the umbrella, covering his upper body just like the Evil Spirit girl sitting on the far right.
The doors closed, and the bus continued toward the next stop.
The lights faded into the distance, soon disappearing into the curtain of rain.
This bizarre bus, which only appeared in the torrential rain, seemed like it would never stop...
...
11:32 PM.
The atmosphere inside the bus was still eerie and gloomy, with Du Wei sitting by the window, his face obscured by a mask.
Next to him was a girl who also held a Black Umbrella over her upper body, and if it weren't for the fact that they sat on opposite sides of the last row by the windows, they really would have looked like a couple.
Well...
If that girl weren't an Evil Spirit...
Du Wei held his umbrella to cover his upper body and sneakily glanced outside the window.
The torrential rain continued outside, yet for some reason, he couldn't make out the changes in the environment; it was as if they were traveling through mist.
At this moment, the bus began to slow down.
The next stop had arrived.
When the bus came to a full stop, the scenery outside the windows became clear.
This was a graveyard.
Wherever his gaze fell, there stood silent tombstones, large raindrops hitting them, quickly breaking apart and splattering around.
However, because they seemed to have existed for so long, Du Wei noticed that these tombstones showed different degrees of aging and erosion, some even had cracks.
He found this a bit strange.
The bus's stops were always in cities or relatively remote places, but he hadn't encountered a situation that transcended reality.
By that logic, it was unlikely for this graveyard to deviate from the norm.
And since graveyards are maintained by staff, any tombstones showing signs of age or damage would be repaired or replaced by specialized personnel.
But this graveyard seemed different, as if there were no staff tending to it.
Yet the sight he could see was somewhat off, because despite all the tombstones showing signs of aging, the environment was exceptionally tidy...n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Suddenly.
While Du Wei was pondering, the front and back doors of the bus opened simultaneously...
Seeing this, he frowned and then saw the woman dressed in an old wedding gown and holding a sharp kitchen knife, who was sitting in the front row, stand up and walk step by step to the door.
Then, she turned her head and stared straight at Du Wei.
In an instant.
A dense malevolence slowly emerged in Du Wei's heart, as though in that moment, he became the target of the woman's attention.
Based on what had happened before, next the woman would beckon Du Wei, then get off the bus, and after that something eerie would occur.
Du Wei slightly lifted his umbrella, revealing the face with the mask, and looked calmly at the woman.
There was no beckoning.
The woman seemed hesitant, staring at Du Wei with malevolence in her eyes that was in a state of turmoil.
It was as if she couldn't determine the target.
Du Wei breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed the rules of the bus hadn't changed too much; by wearing the mask and taking on the identity of an Evil Spirit, he had become just another passenger.
Evil Spirits cannot slaughter fellow passengers of the same identity.
Of course... this was limited to the bus.
At that moment, the urgent ringing of a bell rang out—it was the driver urging the passengers to get off.
Seeing this, the woman stopped looking at Du Wei, turned around, and walked straight towards the center of the graveyard.
The rear door of the bus closed instantly...
The bus slowly accelerated and soon made its way toward the next stop.
And Du Wei watched through the window as the woman in the yellowed wedding gown stood in front of a nearby tombstone, motionless, as though she had become a corpse.
Du Wei noticed that the tombstone seemed to have some text and symbols on it, but because it was so worn, the words were illegible, and he could only vaguely make out the symbol of a Hexagram.
And this symbol, he knew very well...
It was related to the Veda Sect...
What do you think?
