Chapter 9: 9 : Never Touch My Family_ 1
The next day, Felix woke up feeling refreshed. He walked out of his room, basking in the golden fingers of sunlight that scattered across him.
The chirping and singing of morning birds echoed through the yard. As he looked around at the empty yard, Felix was surprised.
"It seems I woke up too early," he thought to himself.
Walking towards the well, Felix drew a bucket of water. As he looked at his reflection in the clear water, he couldn't help but think back to what had happened the day before.
Although his expression had been calm when he killed that man, deep down his heart was in turmoil. He had never taken another human life before, so the act of killing had shaken him,he even secretly vomited, he vomited all th dinner he ate.
But he knew that in the world of Sylphendil, where the strong preyed on the weak and the slightest mishap could lead to demise, he had to adapt.
He washed his face with the cold water, rinsed his mouth, and shook his head to clear his thoughts.
In this world, his old mindset from Earth wouldn't cut it. If he wanted to survive, he had to be willing to do what was necessary. And for Felix, that meant no remorse for the man he had killed.
Felix shook his head to clear his thoughts. He was standing in the yard, doing some simple exercises because his body was feeling weak. Looking at his skinny physique, he realized he was as thin as a twig.
Just then, Felix heard the sound of doors opening. He glanced from the corner of his eyes and saw both Zephyr and Brixton walking out of their rooms. They didn't look too good, with dark circles under their eyes. Felix remained calm, knowing that what happened last night might have been too much for them. It was the first time they had seen someone being killed in front of them.
"Hey, you guys are awake," Felix said casually.
Zephyr and Brixton didn't reply, but stood behind Felix, looking at him with complex expressions. They felt like Felix had changed since he came back two days ago, but couldn't quite put their finger on what was different.
"Do you guys think what I did last night was wrong?" Felix asked lightly.
Zephyr and Brixton were taken aback for a moment, with stunned faces. They both sank into deep thought. Was what Felix did really wrong? Is taking another person's life the right thing to do? They asked themselves.
Especially Brixton, who had never seen his big brother be so ruthless and take another person's life. It was a tough realization for him.
It was last night that he learned that a human life can be so worthless and taken away from him with just a slash of a blade.
"You might think what I did last night was wrong - taking a life from another human, even though that person begged for mercy," Felix said with a serious expression, his eyes narrowed. Turning around, he faced Zephyr and Brixton.
"Listen, this is the Sylphendil World, where the strong have the power to make the rules. The most unfortunate thing about this world is the lack of value people place on life. Your life can be taken away in an instant if someone stronger deems it necessary," Felix explained, waiting for his words to sink in.
Zephyr and Brixton remained silent, their eyes fixed on Felix.
"You know, beggars and poor people like us are often viewed as insignificant by the powerful. They see us as ants that they can easily crush underfoot. They don't care about our families or our lives; all they see is our lack of value," Felix remarked with a chuckle, glancing at Zephyr and Brixton before continuing.
"Do you guys remember what the Smoke Gang said to me while they were beating me up two days ago?" Felix asked, prompting Zephyr and Brixton to shake their heads in response.
"Hehehe," they said, "if I don't give in to their demands, they'll kill me,sell the two of you to the slave market. And after that, they'll send Trinity, Gwendolyn, and Nixie to the brothel. As for the children, do you know what they said they'll do to them?" Felix continued to chuckle bitterly.
"They said they would cut off the limbs of the children and throw them into the Atmos Forest to feed the wild beasts inside."
What! " Both Zephyr and Brixton exclaimed in shock, their pupils shrunk, their faces turned pale.
Looking at their shocked and dumfounded faces.Felix continue, " Now let me ask you? If you were in my place will you rather let those close to you suffer a fate worse than death or do what is necessary to protect yourself and your family even if it means killing someone?" Felix asked with a decadent face.
"So I choose the latter option. I would rather be a devil in angel's clothing and do whatever it takes to keep my family safe, even if it means sacrificing the lives of others ".Felix said with a cold, intense gaze.
Zephyr and Brixton were taken aback by Felix's words, but they also felt a warm feeling in their hearts. Felix was determined to protect those around him at all costs.
"Zephyr, Brixton, in this world, the only thing you can truly rely on is your own strength. if you have enough or become strong, so strong that if someone wants to mess with you that person had to think it over a billion times over. Even if you eat shit there will be people coming to explain the benefits of eating shit. Why? Because you are stronger than them .
I realized this two days ago - being a coward only leads to more suffering and eventually your downfall. I need to become strong to protect myself and all of you. I refuse to let others control my fate. I want to take control of my own destiny," Felix said with a determined look on his face.
Upon realizing he was in a completely different world, Felix knew he had to quickly adapt. The main theme of this world was survival of the fittest.
It was like a hundred-meter race, with everyone rushing towards the finish line. If you fall behind and can't keep up, you might be eliminated. The Sylphendil World was no different - if you don't become strong, you might not survive.
Felix patted Zephyr and Brixton on the shoulders and said, "As long as I'm alive and kicking, I'll never let anyone harm my family."
