Chapter 555: Chapter 153 Where is the Mistake_2
Upon hearing this, Link bit his lower lip tightly, fully engaging the “Mind Closure Technique” to control his emotions.
He was not a professional psychotherapist. If he didn’t do so, he would certainly burst into laughter.
Having heard Sage Palo speak, could the situation be any clearer?
He didn’t know why Sage Palo would think to consult his opinion.
Did he seem like an emotions expert?
Instead of giving direct advice, Link asked, “Sage Palo, what are your true feelings towards the Serene Wizard?”
“I did not say it was about me and Serene.”
Sage Palo instinctively denied it, emphasizing, “This man, let’s be honest, he loves this woman very much. But the reality of the situation doesn’t allow him to be with her for a long time. Otherwise, the risk of both getting involved in accidents is significantly high.”
“I see.”
Link thought carefully for a moment, then said, “Perhaps Sage Palo should ask the Serene Wizard what she wants, rather than presuming what is best for her. Often, women are more than willing to go through hard times with a man; they do not fear danger. They think more about being together once they are in love.”
“Is that so?”
Sage Palo considered Link’s words, then again emphasized, “It’s not about me and Serene!”
Once again, Link bit his lip.
If he missed this time, there would be no second chance.
If he wanted to see Sage Palo in such a plight again, there would likely be no opportunity in the future.
Having adjusted his emotions, Sage Palo switched the topic, asking, “What are your plans after returning home? After the space-time turbulence and the opening of the channel, you and Elise have become the talk of the whole Wizard World. Once you return, you should lay low to prevent any accidents.”
Link honestly answered, “I plan on going back to the College’s main campus for two years.”
“Study further? That’s a good choice.”
Sage Palo strongly agreed with Link’s plan.
The college headquarters housed two Great Sages, four Level Six Sages, and had six Sage Army brigades permanently stationed. It was the safest place within Ravensmouth College’s various territories.
Even an Eighth-level Great Sage like Mitchell couldn’t take down the college headquarters overnight.
Without at least ten or so years, he probably wouldn’t even be able to break through the Interstellar Defense Line.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
After adding his agreement, Palo, who was clearly absent-minded, finally realized: “You’ve been promoted to a Second-Level Wizard?”
“Yes.”
Link actively released the spiritual power unique to a Second-Level Wizard.
The “Small World” had undergone its fourth evolution after being struck by lightning, helping Link complete the Spiritual Power Liquification. It had also given Link another chance to better control his spiritual power.
Therefore, when Sage Palo entered the tent, he didn’t notice the fluctuations in spiritual power that a newly-promoted wizard would invariably have.
It was only when Link revealed it voluntarily that Palo realized Link had already been promoted to a Second-Level Wizard.
“So soon? It’s only been a few years, hasn’t it?”
Sage Palo found Link’s promotion quite unbelievable.
In less than five years, Link had evolved from an ignorant commoner to a Second-Level Wizard.
And not just a normal Second-Level Wizard, but one whose battle strength superseded the standard—capable of confronting a Third-Level Wizard head-on!
This was simply outrageous.
Recalling his own journey, hailed as a super genius, it had taken him nearly eight years to reach where Link was now.
It seemed that with the great changes that had taken place over thousands of years, the difficulty of promotion at all levels had now lessened.
Sage Palo suddenly focused his gaze on Link’s eyes, and firmly instructed: “After you return, don’t do anything else. Go straight to Dean Frist. Do you understand?”
“Understood.”
Link solemnly promised, “After I return, I will go straight to Dean Frist.”
“Good.”
Sage Palo stood up and left, “I will give the dean a heads-up.”
Link watched Palo leave and returned to his cushion in thought.
Clearly, Sage Palo had thought of something, which was why he reminded Link to go straight to Dean Frist upon his return.
He was likely concerned that once news of Link’s promotion to Second-Level wizard was leaked, some people or forces might brazenly kidnap Link and seize the initiative on the matter of the Parallel Universe Channel.
“The tree desires stillness but the wind will not cease.”
Klink sighed deeply, he just wanted to live in peace, how could that seem so hard?
A day quickly passed.
The portal was finally completed.
The first group to be transported back to the Wizard World Homeland through the portal, making pit-stops in the Desolate World’s rear camp, were the injured and dead from Sage Palo’s army.
The battle with the Abyss Demon Army had caused significant casualties within the ranks of Palo’s servant soldiers and Fairy Troop. They were almost devastated.
The servant soldiers were unfit for duty, and were returned to their respective worlds. The Fairy Troop disbanded on the spot after receiving their reward.
On the wizards’ side, 13 First-Level Wizards unfortunately perished.
This happened during the final phase of the campaign. An interstellar warship with a maximum capacity of 15 people was destroyed by a level 4 Shadow Demon’s space-cutting shadow blade, breaking the engine, and losing power.
It was swarmed and completely destroyed by countless intermediate and low-level demons.
By the time the army arrived for the rescue, only the ship’s captain and vice-captain, two Second-Level Wizards, were saved. The bodies of 13 First-Level Wizards were retrieved.
This was the only permanent loss of manpower ever since Sage Palo’s army went to war and also by far the biggest.
