Chapter 104: Uncanny Strength!
When the dust settled, the audience grew quiet. On the edge of the stage, Allastir laid on the ground, his body twitching, covered in blood from head to toe. His armour was badly mangled, and the originally imposing position he held in everyone's hearts quickly faded into nothingness. A lot of young ladies in the crowd gasped when they saw Allastir's sorry state.
Even though Ark had no idea what he looked like behind the helmet, Allastir was recognised as one of the most handsome young men of Estridsen.
Ark gently landed on the ground more than 50 meters away from Allastir. Seeing his sorry state, he only felt pity and decided to give him some help. To the rest of the crowd, his actions didn't look the same at all though. Seeing Ark walk slowly toward the bloody and mangled Allastir, the crowd could only guess what he would do to the poor man.
The middle-aged man that was supposed to be the judge and announcer quickly entered the stage.
"Silver gaze, you've already won, you can step down from the stage now!" The middle-aged man released some of his mana to intimidate Ark, not that it worked particularly well at all. Ark realised why the man was hostile pretty quickly though, and he only chuckled softly.
Due to the intense atmosphere, the crowd was completely quiet, and when they heard his chuckle, chills ran down their spines, would this man still intend to go after Allastir?
Whilst everyone was pondering, and whilst some started shouting vulgarities, Ark turned around. With a wave of his hand, a gentle and soothing light quickly made its way across the entire arena and landed on Allastir. When his body came in contact with the light, it instantly started to greedily devour it.
His body that was mangled beyond recognition and that was ridden with injuries healed at a speed visible to the naked eye. The people that had started screaming vulgarities earlier instantly shut their mouths, it seemed like they had misunderstood this young man, and some of them sat down in shame.
Allastir was on the brink of unconsciousness, but after feeling the gentle light being absorbed by his body, his mind gradually cleared up. He already had respect for this young man since he managed to break his defence without so much as breaking a sweat.
But after his benevolent act just now, Allastir couldn't help but have good feelings toward Ark, the little jealousy and envy toward his abilities quickly dissipated.
Since walking all the way across the arena was too much of a hassle, Ark just vanished with the wind, instantly arriving where the other participants were quietly sitting and waiting for their turns. Looks of reverence and envy penetrated his figure as he once again sat down in a remote corner by himself, shutting his eyes and waiting for the next fight to start.
Even though his magic had healed Allastir a great deal, he was still taken away by a couple of healers, to heal him thoroughly.
Both Allastir and Ark were actually pretty unlucky to fight in the first fight since the chance of staying in the tournament was lower that way. Ark had no trouble with these people though, and after facing off against Allastir, Ark was sure of his own fighting capabilities. As long as the rest of the people were within the scope of Allastir's strength, then Ark wouldn't have any problems at all.
Thufrat and Alenia also witnessed the entire fight from the crowd. Even though they had seen Ark fight before, they still had to give credit where it was due, it was a splendid battle after all.
The tournament Ark was participating in wasn't flawless, but he didn't really care, even if he had to fight one more fight because he was in the first fight, so what? In the end, it all came down to strength! If you had enough strength, then you would be able to fight 10 more fights than all the others and still come out on top!
After both Ark and Allastir had left the arena, the crowd was still cheering because of the brilliant battle! Even though the victory was fairly quick, it was still intense and exciting, keeping the audience at the tips of their toes. They quieted down though at the sight of the middle-aged man entering the stage once more. He quickly announced the next battle: Evellia vs Eldor.
After announcing the fighters, the middle-aged man retreated from the stage and handed the piece of white fabric to princess Annette again. The people that entered the stage this time were a little different. This time it was a male and a female, both seemed to be around their twenties, with the male being above twenty, and the woman being under 20.
The male was dressed in blue robes, an obvious magician from the looks of things. The woman was actually a half-elf. Being the offspring of humans and elves, they were normally superior to both races and inherited the good traits of both races. Even though they sometimes faced discrimination, since they were considered superior in most cases, it wasn't that bad.
It wasn't at the level of discrimination most dwarves would have to face at the very least.
Of course, discrimination depended entirely on where you were since dwarves were seen in a positive light in numerous places as well, because of their crafting and forging skills. Evellia, the half-elf, was an archer.
Everyone with a pair of eyes on their head would be able to notice the bow strapped to her back, what a lot of people wasn't able to see though, was the formidable amount of power her slender body contained, almost as if she was a ferocious beast, waiting to be unleashed.
The bow on her back looked like it was made from some form of old and ancient wood, with a string made out of the tendons of a once ferocious beast. Once they both faced each other on the stage, they got into comfortable fighting positions and waited for the princess to start the battle. Seeing the eagerness of the participants, Annette tossed the white fabric gently into the air once more.
Before the young magician could even process what happened, he heard the sound of a taut bowstring being released. A whistling light was heading for him at an indiscernible speed and the originally arrogant young man was scared out of his wits. Was this really a slender young woman? To release an arrow with a speed like that, what kind of strength was needed to pull the bowstring?
Since his speciality was water magic, the young man conjured up a large amount of water magic right in front of him, in the hope that it would be able to block the incoming arrow.
Unfortunately for him, would it really be that easy?
